Bitter Make Me Better Tea
Centaury herb and Papaya Leaf is available at Mountain Rose Herbs. Be warned: Centaury tastes terrible, awful, bitter than your worst enemy on your worst day. However, Centaury herb is amazing for remedying tummy troubles especially if you have a gluten attack. I used this tea quite often when I was gluten-free and ate soemthing with gluten that caused inflammation (or my belly feeling swollen). Since this tea tastes nasty and cannot be put into pill capsules, try holding your nose while you drink it. You could also try sweetening it with a bit of vanilla sugar, but that only makes it a bit more bearable. Or do what I did, chug it with the enthusiam of a gthree year old at Disney World.
Ingredients
- 8 cups water
- ½ cup Centaury herb, dried
- ¼ cup Papaya leaf, dried
Instructions
- Bring the water close to a boil. In cheesecloth or tea strainers, add the Centaury herb and Papaya leaf for 20-30 minutes. For a stronger batch, I recommend letting it sit overnight.
- Store the tea in the fridge. Drink a cup in the morning before breakfast and a second one before dinner. Warm it in the microwave for about 1 minute 15 seconds (yes, I've tested this). Add sugar/honey/agave to taste.
